The Best Spring and Summer Events in Nashville for 2018

 

With Spring upon us and Summer right around the corner, Courtney and I are always looking for events to attend and let me tell you Nashville doesn’t disappoint! Hopefully we will have a Stanley Cup Finals Game to attend too! Here is our roundup for our top events for Nashville this Spring and Summer!

Tennessee Craft Spring Fair

WHEN: May 4-6
WHERE: Centennial Park: Nashville, TN
COST: Free

The Tennessee Craft Fair is awesome! It’s a great place to wander around and look at all the great things people create. They have two fairs every year. One in the Spring and one in the fall. They even have a virtual fair, if you decide later on that you did want that item that you were thinking about!

The First Saturday Art Crawl

WHEN:May 5 / June 2 / July 7 / August 4 / September 1
WHERE: The Historic and Arts District of Downtown Nashville
COST: FREE

The First Saturday Art Crawl spans through the entire Art district downtown. Most places serve wine and other refreshments. It’s a great way to experience the art scene in Nashville! SP+ is offering an $8 rate to art crawl attendees at their 5th Avenue of the Arts Garage (147 5th Avenue North). Must purchase parking in advance. 1) Select the date of the crawl. 2) Use promo code: ARTCRAWL.

Franklin Hot Air Balloon Festival

WHEN: May 5
WHERE: Westhaven Town Center: Franklin, TN
COST: $15

This festival is awesome! This year they’ll have a beer tent, food vendors, craft vendors, and a kid’s zone. They will also have the Hot Air Balloon Glow at dusk.

Tennessee Renaissance Festival

WHEN: May 5-28
WHERE: Castle Gwynn: Arrington, TN
COST: $25

The Tennessee Renaissance Festival is really fun! We’ve been a few times and we always get to see something new every time we go! It’s located in Arrington, TN at Castle Gwynn. While you’re in Arrington be sure to stop by Arrington VIneyards!

Walker Stalker Con

When: May 12-13
Where: The Nashville Convention Center
COST: Groupon has single day tickets for $26 for 5/12 and $25 for 5/13 and They have both days for $45.

Y’all!! I’m so excited for this one! They released the guest list for this and it is amazing! Most of the Walking Dead cast as well as cast from Arrow and The League of Tomorrow are going to be there!

77th Annual Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival

WHEN: May 12
WHERE: Portland, TN
COST: Free

This event is so much fun! It’s in Portland, TN, which since the strawberry festival first came in 1940, it’s been dubbed the Middle Tennessee Strawberry Capital! They have everything from a Miss Strawberry Pageant to a CARNIVAL!! Nashville Rosé Festival

WHEN: May 19
WHERE: East Park: Nashville, TN
COST: $10- $100

I’m personally very excited for this festival! The festival benefits the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition and will feature over 70 rosé wines, beers, and cocktails. There will also be live music and a live fire section with chef selections and samples. This sounds like it’s going to be so much fun!

East Nashville Crawfish Bash

WHEN: May 26
WHERE: East Park: Nashville, TN
COST: Free Admission VIP Packages from $10-$79.95

The East Nashville Crawfish bash is sure to be a lot of fun. This free, family-friendly, pet-friendly event showcases the best of Nashville, from local food and art vendors to local breweries and, of course, a music bill stacked with regional acts rain or shine! They have the option to pre-order crawfish in quantities of 1, 3,or 5 lbs. They also have VIP ticket options that are anywhere from $40-$76. Those Packages are..

ZYDECO –$39.95- Includes 1lb of crawfish, an event t-shirt, discounted drinks, discounted crawfish, access to VIP area and air conditioned bathroom trailer. Limited to 50.

Zzzoofari Slumber

WHEN: May 26
WHERE: Nashville Zoo
COST: Members (4+)- $38

Toddlers (age 2-4) – $15 Pricing includes souvenir gift for registered children. Registration opens March 14.
This event is always fun if you have children aged 2-12. Bring your sleeping bags and tents and you get to spend the night inside the zoo! They have Crafts the Jungle Gym, Wild Animal Carousel, Soaring Eagle Zipline, Hayride, and Animal Show (starts at 7pm) Corn hole, inflatables and campfire with a marshmallow roast. Activities include hayrides, carousel and zipline rides (until 8:30 pm), inflatables (until 9:30pm), an animal show, crafts, dinner and marshmallow roast and a full breakfast in the morning. Needless to say that you do get your money’s worth and you and your littles will have so much fun!

USA BMX Music City Nationals

WHEN: May 25-27
WHERE: MusicCity Bmx: 2901 Bell Rd, Nashville, Tennessee 37217
COST: Parking Fee but event is free

This event is sure to be a lively one! The BMX Music City Nationals is a 3 day event.

Nashville Scene’s Movies in the Park

WHEN: May 31, June 7, June 14, June 21
WHERE: Elmington Park: Nashville, TN
COST: Free

I think this is an awesome event! I’m always down for free movies and food trucks! This FREE event starts at 5pm and includes food trucks, vendors, and games. The movies begin at sundown.

Brew at the Zoo

WHEN: June 1
WHERE: Nashville Zoo
COST: $60 for Zoo Members/ $65 General Admission

I love the zoo! In my opinion, it is the best one that I’ve been to in a long time! They are always having events and making sure their community outreach is amazing. Brew at the zoo is such a fun night. You have animals, live music, local food trucks and over 100 craft beers are on tap at this after-hours event that was voted the best beer event in Nashville by Nashville Scene readers in 2014 and 2016!

Nashville Flea Market

WHEN:The last weekend of every month
WHERE: The Nashville Fairgrounds
COST: $5 to park

The flea market is always a great option to go browse and find great things. We go all the time just to browse and maybe find a few things. They have food trucks there as well (make sure to get some corn on the cob)!

Second Saturday Outdoor Cinema

WHEN: Every Second Saturday June-September
WHERE: The Belcourt Theatre
COST: FREE

This event is free and it plays old movies from their 16mm camera. It’s a family friendly event and they play movies of all types!

CMA Fest

WHEN: June 7-10
WHERE: Downtown Nashville/ Nissan Stadium
COST: Free- $401

Ahh…CMA Fest…This festival always has awesome lineups and great music! Downtown becomes party central (although when isn’t it really). They have tons of stages set up with many of your favorite artists to see, for free! Make sure you get there early to get a good seat! The concerts in Nissan Stadium are the only seats you have to buy!

International FolkFest

WHEN: June 10-17
WHERE: Murfreesboro, TN
COST: FREE

This is an event that Murfreesboro has been doing for a while! Each year they have different countries participate in their festival. Be sure to check out their website at http://mboro-international-folkfest.org/index.html to see what countries are participating this year!

Taste of Music City

WHEN: June 16
WHERE: Centennial Park: Nashville, TN
COST: $60-$76

Taste of Music City offers a wide range of food and beverages to try out! It features over 20 restaurants and bars that you can sample and browse. The cover charge covers everything inside the event.

Music City Hot Chicken Festival

WHEN: July 4
WHERE: 700 Woodland Street
COST: FREE

You might be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Nashville’s Hot Chicken! If you haven’t…well here’s your opportunity to get a crash course! There will be several vendors at this July 4th festival! It’s a family friendly environment so bring your littles too! They definitely have other vendors besides just hot chicken restaurants!

Summer Splash H20liday

WHEN: July 7
WHERE: Nashville Zoo
COST: Included with zoo admission

With the hot Tennessee weather…it’s imperative to find ways to cool down. The Nashville Zoo has their annual Summer Splash h2oliday. They transform the zoo with slides, wet and wild games, splashy attractions and more. You can pick up a keeper talk schedule at the front gate to see some of the Zoo’s animals devour their own brand of popsicles, like frozen grapes, turkey broth pops and chilled meal worms.

Music City Brewer’s Festival

WHEN: July 28
WHERE: Walk of Fame Park
COST: FREE ADMISSION

This festival will include over 60 breweries for you to browse and try! They also will have live entertainment, restaurants, and other vendors as well!

Live on the Green

WHEN: August 9,16,23 – August 30-September 1
WHERE: Public Square Park: Nashville, TN.
COST: FREE (unless you want to purchase VIP tickets)

Live on the Green is awesome. Last year the lineup was crazy! Everyone from Sheryl Crow to Portugal, the Man. Make sure to get there early so you can get a great seat!

Tomato Art Festival

WHEN: August 10 & 11
WHERE: East Nashville
COST: FREE

This festival has been around for 15 years! The festival is in Historic East Nashville’s Five Points. This festival is destined to make you have a good time! Costume wearing is encouraged. This event is a family event so bring the kiddos! In 2017, an estimated 60,000 came to celebrate this beloved fruit / vegetable and enjoy the day’s memorable festivities.

Shakespeare in the Park

WHEN: August 9- September 9
WHERE: Centennial Park: Nashville, TN
COST: Free

This year they are doing A Midsummer Night’s Dream. They will have various food and drink vendors before the show starts! It’s sure to be a really fun event.
