Whether you believe that Valentine’s Day is all about the love or some made up Hallmark holiday, being single can be tough. All the hearts and flowers in the stores as well as those “couple” specials at your favorite restaurants can really get you down. Before we all go running to our beds and crying over our singledom, lets do something to enjoy the day!
Take Yourself On A Solo Date
Go to that restaurant that you have always wanted to go to, get the dessert, go to the movie, take a walk on the beach or go for a hike. Go get your nails done, take a book to a cute and kitschy cafe, or walk through a gallery or museum. Think of what your perfect date would include and give that to yourself!
Spend Time With Friends
Your friends will always be there for you so why not celebrate love with them? Go out to dinner, throw a party, have a wine tasting party at home, or go out to happy hour at your favorite restaurant. If you have the next day off you could even go out on the town. Dress up or dress down for each other; whatever makes you feel beautiful and special!
Since you don’t have to spend money on a gift for a boyfriend, It’s time to splurge on yourself! Buy that new lipstick. Get yourself some flowers. Buy a treat for yourself before going home. Make or buy some sugary goodness. Binge on your guilty pleasure (make sure you don’t go too crazy). It’s your day!
Do That Something You Were Always Chicken To Do
Try something new! Go to that hot yoga class you’ve always wanted to go to (or Goat Yoga if you’re Chelsey). Go to that concert alone, sign up for a class you’ve wanted to try, put on the bold lipstick, do that hobby you’ve been meaning to try, or sit down and write a three month plan for a goal. Turn the day into an opportunity to go outside your box!
Be a slob
Just be clear, this is self-care! Put on those baggy sweats, order the pizza, and/or indulge in the Chinese. Put on the face mask, do your nails, binge watch tv, and bring the whole bottle of wine with you (who needs glasses?).
Have A “Me” Night
Maybe that means being a slob or maybe that means dressing up. Take a relaxing bath with fancy bath salts or buy a good smelling bath bomb. Read a good book with a cozy blanket, have some wine (because why not), and a good smelling candle. Call someone you love (just because you are single doesn’t mean you aren’t loved). Cook a fancy meal for yourself.
Have a Movie Marathon Featuring Some Eye Candy
You have to appreciate the amazing work of Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron (have y’all seen him in the Greatest Showman?!?), Channing Tatum, and Ryan Reynolds. Just to name a few. Here is a list of our favorite hottie movies
